November 20 is the deadline for Biodiversity Project Competition of Akçansa


3rd Biodiversity Project Competition, aiming to increase the biological values of the mining sites, will be organized by Akçansa, Turkey's leader construction materials company. The deadline for applications to the competition is November 20, 2017.

Applications have started for the Biodiversity Project Competition organized by Akçansa with the aim of generating projects increasing the biological values of the mining sites and increasing the awareness on this matter.

This year, there are two categories in the Biodiversity Project Competition. Students, academicians, scientists, experts and NGOs can apply to the Research Stream Category for scientific projects that will increase the knowledge in mining ecology and/or ensure advanced biodiversity, landscaping and water management at the mining sites.

All individuals and schools, students, NGOs, youth clubs and environmental organizations can apply to the Community Stream Category opened for the projects that will help for a better communication between the society and the mining sites and activities carried out and for raising awareness and educating a wider mass on biodiversity at the mining sites.

Individuals or teams, who want to attend the Biodiversity Project Competition, will be able to upload their project proposals in English or Turkish to the system until November 20, 2017. 3 project proposals from each category to be selected by the National Jury will be determined on December 1, 2017. Winners of national and international competitions will be announced in fall 2018.

The great prize is € 30.000

A prize of € 2.500 and € 5.000 will be granted to the top two projects at the national level in research stream and community stream categories.

In the international level, the best projects selected by our foreign partner HeidelbergCement in each of 6 sub-categories under research stream and community stream will be rewarded with a prize of € 10.000. And the best project to be selected among all the projects will be entitled for the great prize of € 30.000.
