Akçansa Published 2022 Integrated Annual Report
Akçansa, a joint venture of Sabancı Holding and Heidelberg Materials, published its first Integrated Annual Report. The report, published under the theme of ‘Reflections’, reveals Akçansa’s sustainability vision, environment, social development, future strategies, and financial and non-financial performance in a wide range.
Since 2010, Akçansa has shared its sustainability performance with all its stakeholders at international standards and published its first integrated annual report.
In its first integrated annual report, which is a multidimensional assessment of its financial and non-financial performance in 2022, the Company addresses its operations and future strategies from a holistic perspective.
The company also supports the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and the United Nations Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) with the activities shared within the scope of the report.
The company shares the value it creates within the scope of the six capital elements and its contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals in detail under the headings of ‘Occupational Health and Safety’, ‘Reducing Environmental Footprint’, ‘Innovation and Digitalisation’, ‘Circular Economy’, ‘Being a Good Neighbour’ and ‘People, Compliance and Transparency’.
The report includes the performance results of the prioritised topics determined with the participation of all stakeholder groups. Akçansa has gathered its material issues under 18 headings in a more consolidated structure and in this process, it benefited from the document prepared by the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) for companies to create a double materiality matrix. In the study conducted with seven different stakeholder groups, the company determined the magnitude of its impact on the environment and society within the scope of its operations, and analysed the impact of its material issues on business processes through focus group studies conducted with senior management staff.
Commenting on the issue, Akçansa General Manager Vecih Yılmaz said: “With our integrated annual report, which we published for the first time this year, we share with the public our performance in the fields of environmental, social and corporate governance as well as our financial results on the scale of the value we create. We aim to disseminate the steps we have taken to combat the global climate crisis, the effects of which we feel more and more every day, and our exemplary practices that support sustainable development. We keep sustainability at the centre of our business strategy and build our future plans accordingly. We address a multidimensional issue such as sustainability with an inclusive approach; we endeavour to work with the principle of making a sustainable contribution to human and social life in a wide range. Our first integrated annual report stands out as a reflection of our work in 2022, our future course and the value we create together with our stakeholders”.
