Akçimento opens in Büyükçekmece.

1974

The foundation stone of Çanakkale Cement Factory is laid

1991

Türkiye’s first cement terminal, the Aliağa plant, is built.

1994

Ambarlı terminal is included in the operation. Domestic sales exceed 1 million tonnes for the first time.

1996

With the merger of Akçimento and Çanakkale Çimento, the largest merger in the history of the ISE takes place.

1997

In the first year of the merger, the company receives the Outstanding Achievement in Export Award with cement exports of USD 56.5 million.

1997

The foundation of the Karchimsa factory is laid.

1997

The Belgian Prince visits Akçansa.

1997

The first dealers’ meeting is held in St. Petersburg.

1998

The foundation of Sabancı University is laid with Betonsa.

1998

Karçimsa factory with high technological equipment opens.

2001

Akçansa is selected as the ‘Most Admired Company’ in its sector for the first time.

2002

The Çanakkale plant is selected as an exemplary workplace for Occupational Health and Safety by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.

2005

The second production line is installed, and the capacity of the Çanakkale plant is increased.

2006

‘Akçansa Fatih Sultan Mehmet Secondary School’ opens in Büyükçekmece in the 10th year of Akçansa.

2006

Akçansa is the first champion of the Sabancı Group Football Tournament.

2007

Akçansa Ladik takes over the cement factory.

2009

The Concrete Ideas Project Competition, which supports the emergence of innovative ideas in cement and concrete, is organized.

2010

Akçansa publishes the first GRI-approved sustainability report in the Turkish cement industry.

2010

The foundation of the Akçansa Waste Heat Recovery Facility is laid.

2013

Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge is built with Akçansa. The foundation of the bridge is laid employing the Betonsa 100+ concrete product.

2014

OHS Academy opens.

2015

Akçansa implements the ‘My Neighbourhood’ project, which aims to increase children’s sensitivity in their communication with themselves, their environment, and their friendship relations.

2016

Akçansa’s work culture that places people at the centre of its activities and the investments it makes in its employees receive the ‘Gold Standard’ by Investor In People – IIP, the international people management and development standard.

2016

100+Concrete receives the “Excellence Award” from the American Concrete Institute (ACI).

2017

Betonsa becomes the ready-mixed concrete supplier for the Çanakkale 1915 Çanakkale Bridge. Akçansa’s specially developed ‘1803 Cement’ product is used in the construction of the bridge.

2018

Akçansa Çanakkale Fine Arts High School opens.

2019

For the first time, approximately 1 million tonnes of clinker export operations are carried out from Akçansa Port Ambarlı Port within a year.

2020

Akçansa receives the first prize in clinker exports at the ‘Champions of Export’ award ceremony organized by the Türkiye Exporters Assembly (TEA).

2021

The 2030 Sustainability Goals are announced.

2022

Akçansa is included in the BIST Sustainability Index.

2022

Akçansa publishes its first Integrated Annual Report.

2022

Akçansa is selected ‘Company of the Year’ in the sustainability category by the International Business Awards program.

2023

Receiving an A grade in the Fortune Türkiye & CRIF Türkiye Sustainability Survey, Akçansa achieves an ‘Excellent Sustainability’ score.

2023

By joining the Science Based Targets Initiative, Akçansa commits to set an emission reduction target in line with the 1.5 °C scenario.
