Taking Decisive Steps on the Path to a Sustainable Future

Akçansa CEO Vecih Yılmaz commented on the results: “During the first half of the year, we continued to meet domestic demand, with approximately 80% of our total sales originating within Türkiye. At the same time, our effective cost management positively impacted our financial results. Our company, which continues to enhance its performance steadily, was included in the BIST 100 Index by Borsa Istanbul in July. On the other hand, we have taken significant steps to support our sustainability goals, as the effects of the global climate crisis are becoming more evident with each passing day. By joining the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), we committed to setting an emission reduction target aligned with the 1.5°C global warming scenario proposed by the Paris Agreement. In addition, we introduced our sustainable product initiative, taking a significant step toward developing new low-clinker and low-carbon products using alternative raw materials. The first half of the year was also a period in which we carried out important social initiatives. For example, we committed to supporting children’s education in earthquake-affected areas through the ‘My Neighborhood’ project, introduced at our kick-off meeting. With our sustainability-focused efforts, we will continue working to create the highest value for all our stakeholders across social, environmental, and economic spheres.”
