Akçansa declared the financial results of 2008

Turkish cement industry’s leader Akçansa declared its 2008 year-end financial results as 804.4 million TL sales revenue, and 104,3 period profit

Operating under the partnership of Sabancı Holding and HeidelbergCement, leader company of the Turkish cement and ready-mixed concrete industry Akçansa declared its financial results for 2008.

According to the consolidated income table and financial results for the period prepared as of December 31, 2008 and sent to IMKB by Akçansa, the turnover of the company reached to 15.5 million TL increasing by 15.5% in comparison to the last year in 2008. Operating profit of the company realized as 175.2 million TL, and period profit was realized as 104,3 million TL.

Akçansa General Manager Hakan Gürdal, said the following on the financial results: “Despite all negative conditions, we maintain our performance with our approach that focuses on production efficiency, our export ability, our success to reach all markets, our accuracy in cash management and our company culture that focuses on new products and customer satisfaction.”

Stating that they have focused on investment as Akçansa in 2008, Gürdal continued his declaration as follows: “We took a great step in becoming a strategic power in the region by engaging our second production line that will double the capacity of our Çanakkale Factory last year. With the engagement of our new production line, our domestic and international cement and clinker sales increased by 22% in comparison to last year and reached to 6.5 million tons. In our Ladik Factory that joined the Akçansa family the year before, the annual clinker production has exceeded 600 thousand tons for the first time in factory history. While engaging 5 new facilities in ready-mixed concrete business branch, we engaged a new aggregate facility in aggregate business branch. As Akçansa; we continue to create value for our partners, employees, investors, suppliers, business partners, customers, in short all our stakeholders and Turkish society.”
