Akçansa Increases Capacity with Ship Loader Upgrade at Çanakkale Port

Akçansa is renewing its existing ship loader at the Çanakkale Port to enhance the efficiency of its port operations.

As part of an agreement with Bruks Siwertell – one of the world’s leading companies in ship loading systems – Akçansa is replacing one of its current loaders with a new unit capable of loading 15,000 tons of cement and clinker per day, up from the previous 10,000 tons/day capacity. This upgrade will accelerate loading processes and significantly improve operational efficiency.

A joint venture of Sabancı Holding and Heidelberg Materials, Akçansa continues to enrich its sustainability journey through international collaborations.

Throught the agreement with Bruks Siwertell, Akçansa is increasing its current loading capacity at the port. This enhancement will strengthen the logistical capability of Çanakkale Port and enable faster response to customer demands.

In addition to bulk cement and clinker, the Çanakkale Port also handles Big Bag-Sling Bag and dry ash loading operations, raw material discharges, and third-party loading services.

Commenting on the development, Akçansa General Manager Vecih Yılmaz said; “Effectively managing our strategic assets is a top priority for us. The upgrade at our Çanakkale Port, which stands out with its value-added and solution-oriented operations, is a significant step toward increasing both our operational speed and capacity. This will allow us to serve our customers more quickly and make our logistics processes more efficient. With this dynamic loading advantage, we also aim to strengthen our market share in Europe. We believe that this important collaboration with Bruks Siwertell, a global leader in ship loading technology, will be beneficial for all parties involved.”
