Akçansa

Akçansa ranked first in the “Sustainable Production“ category

Turkey‘s leader construction materials company Akçansa is received the first place award in the “Sustainable Production“ category in the Efficiency Project Awards organized by the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology.

Akçansa ranked first in the “Sustainable Production“ category during the Efficiency Project Awards organized by the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology for encouraging the projects developed for increasing the competitiveness of our country and for providing an efficiency-based, sustainable structure to the economy.

With the project it launched in Büyükçekmece Factory, Akçansa has provided both economical and environmental benefit by incinerating the household wastes, garbage and industrial plastic wastes with a calciner designed separately from furnace for the first time in Turkey and the world. Akçansa achieved an important success in its industry with the project “Reducing the use of coal by incinerating RDF and industrial plastics in SLC TYPE Calciner“.

Akçansa reduced the emission values to the environment with the use of alternative fuel. Akçansa ensured a CO2 saving equal to 210.000 trees per year by using less fossil fuel. In 2013, the company provided an additional household waste incineration capacity of 47.500 metric tons/year, and gained an imported coal substitution capacity of 26.163 metric tons/year.

Stocking the garbage in Istanbul, where there is a high population, is a big problem. The project has also been an alternative solution for the garbage stocking problem of Istanbul.

Aiming to increase the knowledge and experience sharing between the businesses, introducing the benefits provided by the projects applied, and announcing the on-going projects related to increasing the efficiency to the public, the Efficiency Project Awards was held on June 2, 2014 within the scope of the Efficiency Week events. Science, Industry and Technology Minister Fikri IŞIK presented the award of Akçansa.
