‘Gold Standard’ for Akçansa’s human management
Akçansa’s people-oriented management culture and investments in its employees were evaluated with the ‘Gold Standard’ by Investors In People – IIP. Akçansa is a company that values people and believes that human resources management is not the responsibility of just one function but the company as a whole. In its first attempt to apply for Investors In People (IIP), the international human management and development standard, Akçansa successfully achieved the Gold Standard after the initial assessment.
As a company that invests in its employees, we initiated the IIP process with our slogan, ‘We are after you for our people.’ As a result of the evaluation, we received the Gold Standard, the highest level of IIP, following process and field examinations by local and foreign assessors and one-on-one interviews with more than 100 employee representatives from all employee groups, both blue-collar and white-collar.
We are proud to be the first organization in our industry to receive this standard, the fourth in Turkey, and one of only 7% of organizations globally. We are also the first industrial organization in Türkiye to be awarded this standard with its first application and after the initial assessment.
About IIP: Since 1991, IP has been the sole ‘people-oriented’ quality standard adopted by over 14,000 organizations in 75 countries across the globe. It serves as a benchmark for assessing and documenting an organization’s level of human resource management in comparison to international practices.

At the International Stevie Awards, Akçansa won the Silver Stevie for the ‘Future of Work’ project in the Employer of the Year – Industry category and the ‘Diversity and Inclusion’ project award in the Diversity and Inclusion Achievement category, the Bronze Stevie for the ‘Health and Wellbeing at Akçansa’ project in the Health and Wellbeing at Work category, and the Gold Stevie for the ‘Health and Wellbeing at Akçansa’ project in the Employee Relations Achievement category.

At the International Business Awards (IBA), Akçansa received the Gold Award in the Company of the Year – Materials and Construction Category – for its outstanding sustainability efforts; the Bronze Award in the HR Team of the Year Category for the Health and Wellbeing at Akçansa project; and the Bronze Award in the Human Resources Category for its Diversity and Inclusion Project.

All factories and ports of Akçansa received zero-waste certificates within the scope of the zero-waste regulation of the Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation.

Our ‘Alternative Fuel Project’ carried out at Akçansa Samsun – Ladik Plant was selected as the best project for the Africa – Eastern Mediterranean Region in the ‘Continuous Development’ category at the Brainstorming Awards organized by HeidelbergCement.

The first award was received for its ‘We are the Solution Partner of Istanbul’s Waste’ project in the field of Environment, the second award for its ‘Smart Concrete’ Project in the field of Economy, and the third award for its ‘My Neighbourhood’ Project in the field of Social Affairs.
