Akçansa celebrated the traditional World Environment Day for the fifth time with Friends of the Environment. The celebrations were held at Akçansa Çanakkale plant. Çanakkale Governor Süleyman Kamçı, President of Onsekiz Mart University Prof. Dr. Ramazan Aydın, and the vice presidents, Provincial Head Prosecutor Ahmet Er, Chairman of Justice Commission Hayri Demir, Deputy Mayor of Çanakkale Muharrem Erkek, Commander of the Provincial Gendarme Corps, Sen. Col. Kemal Özdemir, Ezine District Governor Fahrettin Göncü, Ezine Mayor M. Kemal Cengiz, Mahmudiye Mayor Hüseyin Demirel, Provincial Treasurer Ramazan Taşaltın and many bureaucrats, local administrators, businessmen and celebrities participated in the celebrations. Young trees were planted on the forestation terrain of the factory and subsequently a cocktail reception was held for the friends of the environment.

Simultaneously, during the activities held at our B. Çekmece plant, following the parade and the factory tour participated by non-governmental organizations and school children, school children, divers and volunteers in unison cleaned the shoreline.

Caps and T-shirts of the school children participating in the ÇEP Project organized by Istanbul Governorship concurrent with the World Environment Day celebrations, aiming to create environmental consciousness were financed by our Company, and food rations were catered to the participants and children during their environmental cleaning work at the shoreline.

The Tree Planting festivity that is performed each year at B. Çekmece plant was carried out with the participation of our employees’ families and children and teachers from schools located the surrounding communities this year. During the activities, where scouts from Mimarsinan, Mimaroba ve Sinanoba also participated, another 200 young trees were planted around the factory. The scouts then performed their skills to the visitors, who were meanwhile served with food rations and the activity ended with pleasant memories.
