VEHICLE DONATION TO THE SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF ANIMALS
 A Station Wagon vehicle has been donated to the Mimarsinan Society for the Prevention of Animals operating in the Mimarsinan Municipality and acting with significant generosity for especially street dogs and animals. The Society is collecting the street dogs with their own means, sterilizes them and returns them back to the same streets. The representatives of the Society are stating that they are forced to use this system due to financial deficiency and due to lack of sufficient area. They also state that; in line with their capacity; they provide protection services to street animals at shelters organized with their own means. As a branch of the Turkish Society for the Protection of Animals, the Society has gained substantial success with their activities and has set a Public Service example by taking under control street dogs creating a threat for our environment. By contributing to the Society; we are proud to share the importance we give to the environment and nature with a Non Governmental Organization.
BLOOD DONATION AT AKÇANSA FACTORIES
The "blood donation" campaign conducted regularly each year at our Büyükçekmece and Çanakkale Factories, under the leadership of the Turkish Kızılay Association and as per the resolution of the Occupational Health and Safety Boards, has been realized this year as well. As a first step all of our employees has been informed by the Kızılay authorities on blood donation. One unit blood has been collected from all of our volunteering employees on previously determined dates. Thus; even though small; an opportunity has been provided to our employees to contribute to our country's most important lack and need on the blood issue. Main analysis on the blood provided by our employees during the Blood Donation campaign, has been conducted by Kızılay free of charge. Additionally Kızılay has committed itself to provide one unit of blood free of charge when needed to employees having donated blood.
 SUMMER FESTIVALS IN BÜYÜKÇEKMECE
Like every year, summer festivities have been organized in Büyükçekmece and neighboring Municipalities. The most important among them has been the Büyükçekmece Culture and Art Festival organized at an international platform. Within the scope of the festival; concerts, sculpture contests, exhibitions and various activities took place in addition to the Folkloric Dance Groups from various countries, which has been the main activity of the festival. Akçansa has been the main sponsor to this festival with cultural and artistic events.
Contributions have been also made to the Circumcision Festivity and Art Festival organized by the Tepecik Municipality.
The last summer festivity has been the Mimarsinan Fish Festival. The Mimarsinan festival is located at the nearest residential unit to our factory among all festivals we have contributed to as sponsors. During the subject festival; the importance of fish and sea region; as the most important mean of living for the region; has been emphasized by allocating artificial fish shelters and leaving young fishes into the sea

BETONSA DISPLAY
THE BEST MODEL FOR UNIVERSITY-INDUSTRY COOPERATION
Having adopted customer satisfaction as a basic principle and producing custom-made products for its customers, Betonsa is carrying out its research and development activities at Betonsa Technology Center, in cooperation with the Faculty of Civil Engineering of İTÜ (Istanbul Technical University).
In this context, periodic training programs are organized for ready mixed concrete buyers, construction companies, concrete component producers, civil engineers, inspection companies, aspirant engineers and technical staff working in regional and central authorities. In these programs it is demonstrated that performance of concrete does not only depend on its components, design, production and transport, but also its placement, protection and particularly cure significantly affect its resistance and durability. Various new brochures, namely Cement, Concrete Aggregates, Concrete and Quality Inspections in Concrete have been prepared and distributed so as to support these training programs.
Betonsa Technology Center has provided full support for a doctorate study carried out at İTÜ and material contributions have been made to three doctorate thesis studies and more than five masters thesis studies. Two masters thesis studies in İTÜ on “Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete Industrial Floor Plates Resting on Elastic Floors” have been given support by providing concrete.
In 2004, Betonsa Technology Center contributed to 8 scientific studies within the cooperation program with İTÜ so that they were be put on paper and presented. BETON 2004 congress was participated with 6 papers, the International Concrete Highways symposium was participated with 1 paper and the European Ready Mixed Concrete Organization (ERMCO) congress was participated with 1 paper.
13 trainings, seminars and technical expeditions in total have been organized for our customers, representatives of Construction Inspection Companies and university students throughout the year.
Since 1996 Betonsa Technology Center has released 11 international and 6 national
conference papers in cooperation with İTÜ. 4 additional papers are being put
into writing. These papers discuss optimum design, particularly as regards mechanical
properties, durability and cost, and are welcomed in the sector with appreciation.
