PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY

BÜYÜKÇEKMECE PLANT PRODUCTION LINE

Büyükçekmece plant has three production lines.

The raw materials prepared at the raw meal mills of 1st, 2nd and 3rd production lines with capacities of 90 tons/h, 140 tons/h and 115 tons/h respectively are heated at 1450-1500 ºC and clinker is produced, in the dry rotary kilns of the three production lines with daily production capacities of 1250 tons, 2700 tons and 1500 tons respectively (i.e. 5450 tons/day in total).

The annual production capacities of these three production lines are 425.000 tons, 900.000 ton and 525.000 tons respectively, adding up to 1.850.000 tons altogether.

The clinker produced in these three production lines is ground together with additives in the four cement mills, two of which is have a capacity 90 tons/h each and the 3rd and 4th with 135 tons/h and 65 tons/h respectively. The product is then stored in the silos (there are 10 silos altogether) first and then put on the market as bagged or bulk cement, through the five packaging units that consist of six packaging machines and seven bulk-cement loading points.

ÇANAKKALE PLANT PRODUCTION LINE

The Çanakkale Plant consists of two separate production facilities, located 10 km away from each other. The clinker produced in the central production facilities is conveyed by trucks to the cement production facilities situated on the seaside and then is converted here into cement, by grinding together with additives.

Central Facilities (Clinker production)

Clinker production is carried out on a single line. Raw materials conveyed from quarries located at about average 3 km. away from the pant are crushed in the crusher and used for producing raw meal. Raw meal is prepared in two separate vertical mills each having a capacity 215 tons/hour. The raw material mixture that is fed into the mills is at all times probed by the on-line analyzer acquired from company ASYS. Furthermore, the necessary mixture ratios are adjusted on-line by the AMLAS software developed jointly by Paranext and HTC. The ground raw meal is then converted to clinker in the double calcinator kiln having a capacity of 5.800 tons/day, by baking at 1450-1500 ºC. The annual capacity of the production line is 1.900.000 tons. A blend of ground petroleum coke, imported coal and domestic lignite is being used as fuel.

Seaside Facilities (Cement grinding, packaging and loading)

The clinker obtained in the central facility is conveyed by trucks to the seaside facilities where the cement mills and the port are situated. The clinker is ground here together with the additives in the four cement mills. Two cement mills here have a production capacity of 80 tons/hour each and the production capacities of the other two mills are 140 and 150 tons/hour respectively which add up to the total production capacity of the facility to50 tons/hour.

The cement produced is stored in eight cement silos having a total stock volume of 82.000 tons and then put on the domestic market or shipped abroad as bagged or bulk cement, through the three packaging units that consist of four packaging machines, three bulk-cement and a big-bag loading points.

There are two systems available at the port for loading clinker and cement to vessels, which permit loading to vessels up to 50.000 tons. Akçansa’s port is providing port services to third parties in addition to all kind of bulk load and cargo handling services.
